Purgos 3.0 Problem

OK I'm stuck now - I have Purgos 3 running sweet in the workgroup environment I was on about, however we have just got a load of brand new Windows 7 starter laptops that will be going into the workgroup instead of the old XP Laptops, I have the Purgos server running on my Win XP Pro Admin machine and I can roll out apps to any machine I want even on the domain, but with these new 7 starter laptops all I get is an error which says :

 

RemoteInstallerFailed: Access is denied,,5

 

and if i Set the machines up not to use the agent I get: failed to establish TCP connection.

 

I've done the usual and checked all firewall rules and the Agent is allowed through on the right ports on home and public connections, they also arn't part of a homegroup.

 

I was thinking of trying the Purgos Server on a Win 7 Admin machine see if that helps the issue but thought I'd try this route first

I found that I could only deploy to W7 if I turned off the firewall, also I couldn't remote control them. Have you looked at PDQ deploy, a free program that will let you deploy to W7 so long as you have file sharing enabled in the firewall. I love purgos and am gutted it won't work with W7

Hi chrbb, yep I've tried PDQ Deploy - I've just deleted it off of the server infact. I do like Purgos and cannot get it too work under any circumstances to push apps to Win 7, with firewall turned off, file and sharing enabled, Purgos allowed through firewall and not joined to a homegroup. I think part of the fact is the new machines are Windows 7 Starter, not Pro, Enterprise or Ultimate which I think it would work if it was. I also couldn't get the WPKG service to run on W7.

 

The NM likes Purgos and is infact thinking about running it on the live network, once we switch over to AD (from Netware 6) we wont have Zenworks anymore and we have distributed apps so we are going to look at Purgos.

 

I cant get it working on 7 at all, XP is no problem so I don't know what's going to happen in 3 years when all the sites are running win 7.....

Is the 'remote registry' service running on the clients ? I had to set this to automatic via GPP, control panel, services for Sophos to install.
