garethEds Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Hi Guys, When I'm creating forms in Access 2007 they open up full screen - even if they are small forms. In Access 2003 they used to open up at the size they were designed. Does anyone know how to make them open up at the smaller size and set it as default on a per form basis? Cheers Gareth
SYNACK Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Are your forms maximised in design view? If so this persists to the form despite the specified size.
garethEds Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 Hmm - maybe I'm missing something, but I'm designing my forms small (as in the screen shot) - yet they are opening up full screen. Hopefully the pictures below can show what I am experiencing. I assumed as in Access 2003 that the window (when not in design mode) would open the same size. Gareth
SYNACK Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Ah, your design windows is maximised as you can't see window handles on the side only the design limit of the form, if you can find the restore button for the design windows so that you have a standard resizeable window showing around your form in design view then it will take these bounds as the ones that it uses when displaying them. Don't have 2007 on this box to give a screenshot unfourtunalty but I'm sure you'll be able to find it.
garethEds Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 Hi Sinack, I've been looking for them all morning :-) There must be an interface reset button somewhere. I keep resizing my window as I'm running W7/Access2007 in a Parallels for Mac window. Gareth
SYNACK Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Is this a file in an old version of access format? Apparently that can cause issues: Access 2007 not retaining a form's window size - Microsoft Access / VBA answers I think to get it into windowed mode you need to go to the office orb, properties, current database, document windows options, windowed mode. That should let you resize individual windows propperly.
mac_shinobi Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 In the first screen grab in design mode at the top right there is the little square, right click on this and go to properties --> window state --> vbNormal instead of vbMaximised ( at least thats the option in access 2003 from what I re call..
p858snake Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) From memory (I don't have office on this laptop).... Can't you right click on the background in design mode -> properties -> then manually configure the size settings? Edited March 28, 2011 by p858snake
garethEds Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Well after moving to Office 2010 we found the same issue with Access so a quick search (again) through Google found the following: Access Options..., Current Database, Document Window Options. Select Overlapping Windows This information came from: Access 2007 Idiot Question - Resizing forms - Access World Forums Makes Access databases look a lot nicer. Regards Gareth
