Hello there,

We have an OSX 10.6 network with individual logins/profiles.

I wonder if it is possible to set up some sort of remote dropbox or way of working on a file at home (either create at home then 'drop' it into the school network or maybe even access the user's home/docs/shared folders from home...

Anyone do ths? Is it easy /cheap to set up?

cheers!

If using moodle as vle you can use smbclient to make home folders and shares available... S'how we do it...

We were told not to use dropbox as it hosts outside eu therefore couldn't be used for any info deemed sensitive.

Traditionally we've always used a disk share internally, and we can VPN onto that from home. Recently we have been trialling Sharepoint and really like it for lots of reasons. Microsoft tell us that UK customers who prefer to use the online Sharepoint service are guaranteed that their data is only held within the EU, so we think that's a safe bet for anyone who wants to give it a try. With the new EES licensing plan, it's become cheaper to run Sharepoint than it used to be.
