Dos_Box Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 We have almost hit 300 users. Not bad for a forum dedicated to educatuional techies, in fact, the only forum for educational techies. Nice, I wonder if we'll get there today?
Ric_ Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 We had 2 new members today by 8.23! - Boy do we start early! Of course we aren't professional and we sit in our offices doing nothing (bar surfing the net) all day.
Dos_Box Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 I think making ourselves heard on the TES site has worked
E1uSiV3 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 how many are 0 posters tho (not trying to dampen the parade but i like to point these things out), need to get them posting
Dos_Box Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 Wee seem to have some bots or other people playing silly buggers joining at the moment.
GrumbleDook Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 We have almost hit 300 users. Not bad for a forum dedicated to educatuional techies, in fact, the only forum for educational techies. Nice, I wonder if we'll get there today? I am sure a few teachers have snuck in though ... Not that I mind. Not all of them are like Bisley98 ... in fact a good number are wasted being teachers when they deserver to techies ...
Ric_ Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I've just had a dodgy PM abusing our site. If anybody else expeniences problems please PM me or another admin (Dos_Box, russdev, Geoff) so that we can suspend the user until they are fully investigated
Dos_Box Posted October 7, 2005 Author Posted October 7, 2005 More info please Ric. From who and what was the content?
russdev Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 it might be an idea to get all those 0 posters on to send one time email Hi thank you for joning edugeek this is one time email to let you know of some developments on site we loved to see you on site sort of thing russ
GrumbleDook Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 And how about a possible monthly reminder that they are subscribed.
StewartKnight Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I've just had a dodgy PM abusing our site. If anybody else expeniences problems please PM me or another admin (Dos_Box, russdev, Geoff) so that we can suspend the user until they are fully investigated Wasn't Bisley was it! I had wondered if teachers should be told about edugeek!!
StewartKnight Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I've had one from someone called 'Chick' asking if I want to chat....anyone else had that? Now, if we have over 300 members, and everyone sponsored my charity trek £10... think of the lives edugeek could save.. all of them potential ICT technicians!!!!
E1uSiV3 Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I had same thing StewartKnight, tis a bot grrr :|
alexknight Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I don't think you can force people to post, as some people are happy just to read posts and gain knowledge from there. However a monthly e-mail reminder say, would be a good idea and the e-mail could have some content that encourages posting. This would give us a reminder and let us know that anyone can post. As to nusiance messages. You will always get this and it is best ignored. The only reason someone posts nusiance messages is to get atention. Take the attention away and they also go away.
russdev Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 yer wasnt trying to say force them but the may be people who have subcribed and forgot about the site. We thought it was a bot by way her profile was filled out told dos_box other day and decided to keep an eye on it russ
mrtechsystems Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Well I have not posted for a while but it nice to see ppl enjoying the website I am loving it for the resources and with the conference comming up aswell bonus It is just a shame that there are some sad ppl out there try to destroy it
beeswax Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 how many are 0 posters tho (not trying to dampen the parade but i like to point these things out), need to get them posting ..and there are some of us who feel we are don't know enough to be able to contribute to the general flow of things but who have small areas of knowledge/insight where they can add something to the discussion. I'll be honest here and say that as I scan some of the posts I'm left scratching my head as to what you're on about, but that's good because it gives a lot of us something to aim for, and leads to researching the subject - Wife to me on a Saturday evening, "are you working?" "no, it's research" "so it's work then?" You can't get much past them. here's to the next 300, beeswax
beeswax Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 by the way, the thread regarding sfs and XPSP2 was very useful. thanks beeswax
