DaveMurphy Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 We have 2 xbox 360's at two of our campus' in the Student Common Rooms, one of the games was stolen the other week but returned the day after with the excuse that a student wanted to 'copy' a game. The exact same happened on the other campus although the game wasn't returned. I'm no gamer, to be honest I'm not interested in them but theres an ethernet port, is there a way to save games on to a network share and connect them that way so the disks aren't needed? or something to stop the disks going missing? EvLPhenom Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 No, the only way to "save" games is to install them to the HD on the xbox but even then you need the disk to load up the game.

Cheers the only way you could do that is by modding it. modding it = no warrenty and furture updates may kill your xbox

Cheers You can't back games up to a network share, the Xbox needs the disc inserted to play the game. The only solution I can think of is to lock the Xbox up (with the disc inside) and they'll have to ask a member of staff with a key if they want to change the disc - unfortunate but if they can't be trusted I can't see what else you can do really (other than take the Xbox off them completely of course)

It does come out of the College budget at some stage, however; the rooms have been a great success and another room is being created for the next academic year.

None of my games work like that, I still need the disc, it just reduces the loading times... EDIT: just re-read the post, misunderstood you sorry!

I know the option is there to install to HDD but every Xbox I have used has still needed the disc (to stop people doing exactly what you describe)

Last person to have the game has responsibility until the end of the day. Plus get a sign up fee of £20 per academic year so the funds can go to replacing games and buying new games as and when.
