ben604 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 We have WSUS installed on one of our DCs. Our Domain has been having a number of problems recently, mainly with replication and DNS, so much so that we're rebuilding from scratch in the summer and hobbling along in the meantime. Anyway, I've just installed WSUS on another server within the domain and WSUS on the original server seems to be failing. Would installing WSUS on a 2nd machine as a standalone affect other WSUS servers on the same domain? There are some warnings in the event log, but as we haven't tried to access the WSUS server for a few weeks, since our latest domain issues, I'm not sure if that's related...
Michael Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 To answer your question, no it makes no difference. Once you've setup WSUS on the second server, point your workstations to update from it instead. I would also recommend you stop/disable WSUS related services on the first server to save resources. 1
