We are looking for an ICT Technician at a local Nottingham School. Here are the details for those who are interested

As I haven't posted enough to give PM's yet, I will answer on the thread until I can.

 

The job has been through the JE and the pay is slightly out. It actually goes from £15725 to £17161.

 

Yes, we are an RM school but for the moment, we are still going to be one (although it has been mentioned that maybe in the future we might move away from RM).

I trainned as an ICT Technician a few years ago and have been in a retail job ever since. I am now looking to pursue a carrer in ICT but I have a problem with your advert. What is an RM School? I know it is proberbly somthing simple but I am a bit out of touch with the latest devlopments in the ICT world

RM stands for Reaseach machines, they suppy/supplied schools with the community connect software, latest being RM CC3 so far as i'm aware.

CC4 is the latest RM Network version

The easiest way to explain is it is a bolt-on onto the top of Server 2003.

 

It's very easy to use but does have several quirks which are easily taught. Yes, we do have CC4 which is the latest version.

Are they the same to repair as standard desktops or do they require additional trainning?

The reason I ask is that my trainning was just bassed on standard PC's so I had never heard of RM networks

The RM 'stuff' sits on top of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Community Connect 3/4 is, as mentioned, just a bolt on for network management. Everything is still Windows otherwise.

Exactly. The build process (and a few other RM quirks) is the only thing that needs to be taught. It has taken the new Tech less than a week to get it. As long as you know how to fix a PC running XP then the rest can be taught.
