Is there much of a market for old reference material??

One of the teachers neighbours recently died, who must have been in IT and she obviously thought we would like all the stuff. I would have loved it...if it hadnt all been so old

 

It started off with a few NT 4 MCSE guides, and built up to an almost complete set - about 8 in total, probably were worth a fortune when they came out

 

Now we've just got a load more stuff dumped in the office including a circa 1999 Technet Plus subscription, boxed copy of NT4 Server (both of which Im keeping because Im quite sad....) 2 boxed copies of OS/2 Warp Connect, masses of Oracle stuff, a big library of 'Progress' books, whatever that is and ancient copies of Backup Exec and finance software

 

We could probably recycle most of the books but it still seems a bit of a waste, is there any chance any fool on ebay would want this stuff??

I'll keep the interesting stuff myself but I have no interest in a load of Oracle stuff

 

It also does annoy me a bit we're a dumping ground for anyones old IT *anything*

Came in quite a few times to find teachers old home computers on my chair that they've 'donated'

Although you cant (i'm pretty certain) sit the NT4 MCSE exams anymore, you could install the server in a virtual environment and play about with it.

It's all out-dated, but you never know in any future jobs you get / go for it might be used for legacy systems.

I was actually considering doing that :oops:

Perhaps not going through it all but it would be nice to be competent in it, like you say in case I deal with it in future jobs

 

I probably should finish my current MCSE stuff first though

eBay is your best best, you will find allsorts of things going on there for 99p etc, just make up a bulk lot and try and flog it on there sometimes works.
