One of my teacher workstations is having an issue logging on the teacher who uses it.

Simply it hangs (looks like it's trying as the log on bar still has the active horizontal scroll running across it) on applying your settings.

Pulling out the network cable and it pulls up her desktop as normal and reconnecting the network cable all usual network resourse is available.

I disabled the profile and rebooted as her a few weeks ago this resolved the issue but today it's back again?

Hi

Is this effecting one user or all users who use that machine?

Can the effected user logon to another PC without any issues?

Do you have a mixes Windows PC (XP, Vista, 7)?

I had one today hang on applying computer settings for a user. Deleting the local profile and using gpupdate /flush seemed to do the trick.

I won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply.

Yep just the one user. Logon elsewhere no problems at all.

Other users can log on to the PC again without problems.

A pure MS Server 2003 R2 Domain and XP Pro clients.

Hi

As suggested, have you deleted the local profile?

Have as a test, deleted the loca profile by using the admin account, then removed the profile from the effected user under their user account properties and then tried to logon to the same PC?

Thanks Steve and Sukh,

Had this same problem on this client previous and that's what I did then.

As it's happened again that seems to indicate a bit of a deeper issue - or it might happen again.

Strange that unplugging the network cable at the applying settings stage allows completion of the log on - yet doesn't result in incomplete access to the network?

Hi

Can you reproduce the issue?

When you disconnect the cable, whatever the client is striggling to do is obviously being skipped therefore allowing the effected user to logon.
