marvin Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Hi Guys We have recently had a Bird box installed in our school gardens and we would like this to be viewed internally across the school network Can anyone recommend the best easy solution for this? I have setup a windows xp P4 machine which will take the video and sound input via USB and I am wondering how i can get this to be shared across the school network! I tried VLC with no luck unless i was doing something wrong! Has anyone used something else which is simple?
FN-GM Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 You can use Ustream.tv and this will put it into a web interface. There is a way to block all other webcam streams but your own, off the top of my head i am unsure how. You can also use it to sream on the internet. Off the top of my head thats all i can think of.
LeMarchand Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 We cheated and got a IP camera! I think Yawcam allows you to stream webcam output.
Admiral208 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 install yawcam. enable the streaming feature. navigate to http:// computername:8080 this is usually the port number but you can configure this in the settings. Ive used it here to show some building work that's happening.
Gurra Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I use VLC in Linux, works perfectly. If you are using it in Windows, make sure your firewall software isn't blocking it.
marvin Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 YAWCAM worked a treat. Is it possible to picture in colour?
marvin Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 For some reason the picture is not being displayed in colour!
Admiral208 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 thats not a fault with yawcam. there is a settings menu where you can adjust the image from your webcam. have a look in there.
quietriot1983 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 For some reason the picture is not being displayed in colour! Is it because it's dark inside the bird box and it's changed over to NV-mode?
marvin Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 I don't think it has gone under NV-Mode. The video decoder is set to PAL_B, would this make the difference?
