With the, apparently, sudden rise is novelty devices for PCs/macs what devices are available for us to have in our offices for "genuine" purposes and what can we have just for the shear novelty of it

I want.. Really can't justify it as work or personal. though my tablet pc is on the way out.... Hmmm......

 

Only novelty I have is a USB missile launcher. Great conversational piece. Even better when you shot them. Best hit, SMT in the groin... Score!

A couple of weeks back I was discussing computer 'form factors' with my line manager (Deputy HT) and we were discussing the likely shape of things to come with initiatives such as 'Computers for Pupils' and the dreaded BSF. As she had some money left in her development budget she suggested we buy a PDA and a UMPC to evaluate..... just in case.

 

It is useful having a line manager who is willing to take risks with technology.

 

Needless to say, quick as a flash I had the order on the Bursars desk.

Jem and I have a USB lava lamp and a USB "Stress reliever"....which led to many humorous usage suggestions.
