Whats everyone using for their server room battery backups?

I've been buying APC 1000 watt smart UPS's but they only seem to last about a year without being used.

Is there anything better out there?

Mixture of 5000s, 3000s and 2200s. Nothing smaller than that. Batteries replaced in a few already (usually do it every 3 years rather than wait for failure). All working fine.

What do you mean by without being used? UPS in storage must be keep at a minimum charge, and storage instructions usually dictate a charge interval. If the voltage drops too low, the battery will be damaged (like any other lead acid battery).

I am currently in talks with Borri who are a UPS manufacturer, there kit looks good and comes recommended by people on here and they seem to have a good reputation, and more importantly seem much better value than APC!

Full room solution APC. Runs 3 and a bit server racks, and the comms cabinet, and has enough gigglyamps to keep the whole thing up for about 2 hours if necessary. Every socket in the room runs through it, and there are 4 commando sockets for the rack PDU's.

4 x APC SmartUPS 3000i with network management cards here with the servers staggered between the 4 UPS's so one UPS can fail totally with no effect on the servers.

Works a treat and fairly cheap. (and it gets tested constantly!!!)
