This is an annoying issue. Glad we picked it up before 1st March!

The IP address of worldmathsday.com / worldeducationgames.com that we see is 202.58.100.185. This isn't being blocked and students are able to access the page okay.

The problem is when they come to use the sign in box:

We know the usernames and passwords are correct but it just sits there with "Contacting Server" in red displaying.

Changing to another proxy (but less heavily filtered) works fine.

Does anyone know the IP address of the server where the signing in authentication is going?

UPDATE: We've contacted WMD Support and are awaiting a response.

I hate World Maths Day!

Every year we take part and every year I have to field complaints from teachers about problems when pupils start logging in en-masse.

They just don't seem able to grasp the concept of a web based application being outside of my control...

The folks at worldmathsday.com have got back to me and you need to make sure that you allow the following ip ranges:

202.167.245.0/24, 203.99.142.0/24 202.58.100.0/24, 202.9.83.0/24

I've just been in to a class where they are having problems. Two out of thirty have got in, the rest get a #2032 error, whatever that is. Too many people in the World I suspect!

We are having the same issue here...by the end of today I am going to be REALLY sick of telling people that I have no control over an external website!*

* Is it a coincidence that World Maths Day has the same initials as Weapons of Mass Destruction? Is this an attempt to kill the internet?

We have a similar problem.

The students can get to the home page but when they go to the log on button the page just sits there and displays nothing. However if you log onto the same machine as a teacher the logon screen displays just fine.

I appreciate that we are looking at local permissions here as all the correct IP addresses have been set in SmoothWall and we can see the requests being passed by SmoothWall.

I am not sure what I should allow in the GPO that sets Student permissions as I don’t want to give them cart blanch to the machines.
