Squelch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 BBC News - Councils defeat government over school buildings Super 1
Chuckster Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 So what does this mean - do IT Support staff get transferred over to a managed provider now that the councils have overturned the government's decision?
Squelch Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 After the spectacular failures of said managed service providers, let's hope not.
Chuckster Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I think schools would be obliged to offload their IT staff if it meant they can do wonderful, sometimes disastrous, new things to their schools.
Squelch Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I think I'm going to go and lie down in a darkened room, it seemed to help last time.
somabc Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 The Councils won on the basis that Consultation had not taken place so now it is likely there will be a year or so of Consultation and then the Schools will not be built.
Theblacksheep Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 How much has it cost to take the government to court over this?
sparkeh Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Two salient points from that article: The Department for Education issued a robust defence to the decision. A spokesman said: "On the substantive points he [the judge] concluded that it was a rational decision and that the authorities involved had no expectation of being allowed to proceed with their projects." "The judge set out, however, that "the final decision on any project still rests with him and…. No one should gain false hope from this decision."
somabc Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Two salient points from that article: hence my reply
sparkeh Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 hence my reply Always good practice to quote your sources
