Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Once again it's that time of year when romantics, hopeless or otherwise find themselves ambling around certain shops and outlets searching for inspiration for that special gift. If you're anything like the majority of us at CP, this can be a monumental nuisance...and our experience has shown us that petrol station flowers and a transit-damaged Chocolate Orange certainly aren't Cupid's weapon of choice. So we've teamed up with fxnailz.co.uk to offer our account holders a Valentine's Day olive branch. Every email/text/webform we receive between now and 2pm Fri 11th Feb with a brief description of the worst gift you've given (Valenine's or otherwise) will be rewarded with a freebie from the site. As a starter for 10..mine was an ill thought 'gift' as a 17 yr old, handing my then gf a ring box with a 2p piece inside.Haplessly caught up in how the joke would have us both in fits of laughter. I neglected to buy an actual present. She freaked. We split soon after Fail Joe
Hightower Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Can I post here and still be eligible for a freebie? I am an account holder The worst gift that I have ever given was a holiday to Corfu and an engagement ring. Yep, that's the best present I've given too, but I've only ever done the whole valentine's thing for the OH's engagement as I don't believe in the whole thing so naturally because I have only done it once it is both the best and the worst. 1
Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 That aces mine hands down! Nice work, I popped the question in Crete last year.Freebie winging its way to you. Did you find concealing an engagement ring abroad as difficult as I? Joe 1
featured_spectre Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 worst valentine gift given - A work out dvd she said she wanted, so I got it for her, she then flipped at me for getting it, so I decided to take her out to do her fav things (bowling, a meal, then a drink) and got an ear bashing for not being spontanious or romantic...we soon split 2
Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 ouch, a fitness dvd is on par with sugar-free chocolate. Top bombing Neph...well worth a freeb!
elsiegee40 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I am an account holder too. Worst Valentine's Day - the one 8 days after I'd had my wisdom teeth out when I looked like I'd lost in a fight with Mike Tyson. Then boyfriend (now husband of over 20 years) took me out to dinner, but only after hunting down the dingiest restaurant he could find because he thought everyone would think he'd been beating me up! Feb 14th is my birthday, but as husband is in Sydney, I shall be spending the evening without him... at my eldest's consultation evening! So romantic! I doubt the teachers are greatly impressed either! 1
Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Cracker! only to be used in conjunction with his other paperback 'hypnotism for beginners'
Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 @elsiegee40 that sounds like a bit of a nightmare...we've got just the freeb to help you forget. 1

Haptic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 ha ha I strongly advise against it! Unless you're looking for an 'easy out'

Haptic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 EVERY year I buy him a chocolate heart or similar, and EVERY year I watch him eat it.. That's pretty unfair,You could always ask for a new Caps Lock key! Freeb granted!
Haptic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 we've ("he") never really done valentines day ... :'( I'm amazed at how many blokes don't (we could have saved ourselves tons of cash and hours browsing in Poundland) freeb on its way
Gonk Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 The names of the innocent have been changed to protect the guilty... I was 19, in Uni and life was good. I was seeing a girl (Girlfriend B) and we'd been together for a few months and of course being all romantic I bought her roses, some chocolate and a card. A week or so previously I'd bumped into an old flame (Girlfriend A), and we had a chat and that was that. We met up again at house party, one thing lead to another... and I'm sure you can fill in the blanks. Basically, I had both young ladies in tow the same time and before anyone says anything, yes, I know thats not a good thing to be doing! So, Girlfriend A, mentions valentines, I go buy a card etc... To cut a long story short, I put the wrong card in the wrong envelope. I gave Girlfriend A (who was allergic to chocolate), the chocolate (I'd forgotten this) and the card for Girlfriend B. Girlfriend B got the roses and the card for Girlfriend A. Needless to say, I had a very, very quiet valentines day. 2
Haptic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 and I'm sure you can fill in the blanks. You dirty dog! you completed crosswords with both of them....puzzle polygamist. Ace story, probably the best one so far..freeb inbound
Gonk Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 You dirty dog! you completed crosswords with both of them....puzzle polygamist. Ace story, probably the best one so far..freeb inbound All I can say is that Girlfriend A had many wide and varied interested. Crosswords were most certainly not one of them!
Willott Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Not so much a gift but... Our first wedding anniversary was in December last year, the day before we both realised we hadn't got gifts or cards for each other. We decided that we didn't need/couldn't really afford gifts, but bought each other a card whilst in Asda shopping (cards placed face down in trolley so we couldn't see the other's card). They're still some where in the house, unwritten and ungiven, but at least we've got cards for next year! 1
teejay Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yes I'm an account holder. I don't normally do Valentines day, but a few years ago now, I thought for once I'll make a nice romantic gesture and make my wife breakfast in bed, you know, full works with a glass of champagne, single rose, etc. Got it all done, really pleased with it sneaked upstairs walked in bedroom and tripped over the dog. All went everywhere, followed by the mrs jumping out of bed, foot straight on the champagne glass. The rest of the morning was spent in A&E. 1
Haptic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 The rest of the morning was spent in A&E. That was a serious accident short of a Darwin Award...gnarly stuff! Freeb incoming
teejay Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks, oh and to top it all, the dog ate the breakfast and I had to clean up a bedroom that looked like I'd tried to murder the mrs ;-)
bladedanny Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I once gave a GF my last rolo for valentines day. All was well until she realised I'd ate the rest of the packet and not saved her any.
