disable the information bar in IE8

I'm trying to run my new laptop without flash. I WANT to use IE8 just without flash, great... I installed flash as it kept nagging me on every site I visit. I've disabled flash and now it naggs on EVERY website that add-ons are disabled.

 

I've followed it's own help to turn off the info bar but the instructions given actually just minimise the chance of it appearing!

 

I found a reg hack that sets iexplorer x0 in local security (for those who google this problem) but that doesn't get rid of it either!

 

I don't want to use chrome,firefox,safari,etc.

Tried downloading again and reinstalling here: No problems. You antivirus doesn't like it?

To kill Flash Player in Internet Explorer you just need to set the following two registry keys...

 

DisableFlash.reg

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}]
"Compatibility Flags"=dword:00000400

To re-enable it, simply delete the keys...

Since you're using Windows 7 you could also install IE9 and turn on the new ActiveX Filtering option.
