This is usually due to the retention period date/time of the available Media Set within the Tape Drive / Library.

Basically the retention period applied to the set of media is beyond the start of the next applicable backup job. (This could either be the Append Period and/or the Overwrite Period)

If you look at the Media Tab, and look for the Media that the backup job is attempting to use, you will see the appropriate Append and Overwrite backup periods.

You can then either amend the Append / Overwrite periods for that Media Set, or you could erase the tape (if you don't require pre-existing data of course) and restart the job.
