Bengaul Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 We have a Dell NX3100 file server that we are going to rebuild over half term. I cannot find the disks that came with it. Does anyone here have a 3100, and, more importantly, do they have the disks that go with it, or know where I can get a copy? Huge thanks, Ben.
soveryapt Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Have you tried contacting Dell directly? That would be my first point of call, see if they're able to supply copies (explaining you already have the system, but have misplaced the disks). The only problem you might have here is with it being licensed software on them, they might want to charge you for a new license, worth a shot first though if you haven't.
Bengaul Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Hi, Yes, going round the houses a bit with Dell. You know how it is... I thought this route might quicker! I am trying the Dell route too.

Aye, I know, I tried getting some driver disks for some OLD Dell laptops we have (D505) when I was doing upgrades on them. In the end, I ended up phoning a couple of local schools that I know had been part of the same Laptops for Teachers scheme and had the same ones. Sods law that when I'd copied the disks that someone pointed out the cupboard in the most random location away from the ICT Suite with the disks and stuff in for each of the Dells. lol .. but I'm guessing you bought and stored these disks, so you're not going to have the luxury of someone else knowing where they are.
6Foot2 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 You should be able to download the files/drivers from here: Link 1: Drivers & Downloads If you requested modifications to your server before shipping you will be able to get a 'tailored' list of files/drivers from here: Link 2: Welcome to Home User Support by selecting 'Drivers & Downloads' and entering your servers' Service Tag. HTH.
Bengaul Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks for the replies. DaveP, I have tried those links, and although the software and firmware are there, the restore disk, i.e. the copy of Storage Server 2008 is not, and being Storage Server 2008, I don't think they have an ISO for download. aptproductions, That is correct. They might have been filed under 'B' for bin. I have got somewhere with Dell recently though, and they may be able to let me have a copy of their recovery disk. Still open to offers though!
AngryTechnician Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I have these from our NX3000... not sure if the ones for the NX3100 would be identical or not.
Bengaul Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Hi AngryTechnician, I'm not sure either, but if you don't mind I would like to give it a go? Can I send you an SAE and a couple of blank disks?
Bengaul Posted February 7, 2011 Author Posted February 7, 2011 Thinking, I have a couple of gig free on a dropbox account, would it be easier to upload an ISO if there is enough room?
