The subject says it all really .. sat here drinking perhaps my 6th cup of coffee of the day (which includes the one I had before leaving home) and noticed on the back of my Tesco Fresh Coffee Pack (I do have some decent stuff, but I kept forgetting to bring it from home, so this gets me through with my little caffitiere! lol) that it says:

Relax and enjoy 4 to 5 cups a day

Drinking a cup of coffee is one of life's small but regular pleasures. It is reassuring to kow that moderate coffee consumption - of four to five cups a day - is perfectly safe for the general population and may have some benefits to your health

So I just thought I'd ask, how much coffee really is too much coffee? :)

No such thing :). Saying that I generally only have one or 2 mugs a day.

Gah, I was too busy worrying about the alcoholism and now this has creeped up on me.

I usually stop drinking coffee at about 11am, and 5 mugs isn't unusual.

LOL .. put them both together .. have Irish Coffee, Jamaican Coffee, Scottish Coffee, French Coffee .. :) and that's just breakfast .. :)

For refference I used to drink 6 to at worst 12 red bulls a day and it did not kill me. I probably would not recomments it though.

I reserve Red Bull for night driving when I'm away doing musicy things (DJing and the like) .. :)

I drink 1 or 2 of the large cans of Rockstar every day (amusingly they sent me some merch!) and I'm fine... apart from the fact I have to have a couple of weeks caffeine free every few weeks when the chest pains start...

When I was at college, me and my mate were big Futurama fans and loved the episode where Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee.

Inspired by this, (and the fact that the coffee machine was "help yourself" and pay at the till meaning we could squeeze 4 espresso shots into one cup and pay 50p instead of £2), we went on a "How much coffee can we drink" challenge. In an hour, we both managed 5 cups (20 shots) and a can of Pepsi to get rid of the taste.

Time did not slow down in "bullet time" style, but I was shaking and speaking exceedingly quickly with a very amusing stutter (like that guy from the film "The Great Outdoors" who had been struck by lightening 77 times).

Happy days. :)

Whatever you do, NEVER get tempted by pure caffeine powder! I bought some thinking it'd save me some money; 30g for £5 rather than £1.50 a can (roughly 150mg) and used it for about a week, adding a spoon to my cuppa in the morning. It worked fantastically for the first week, I was wide awake and sharp as a knife! But then disaster struck, I OD'd, could barely walk, threw up for 48 hours constant and probably would have gone to hospital if I had the energy!

Stick to coffee, the pure stuff is evil!

You can never have too much....but I would have thought too much coffee is the point you go the other way after a mug and crash out. We average around 7 cups a day per man in the office. It is like an episode of Road Runner!

LOL .. I remember I was was involved in a gig at the Birmingham Symphony Hall helping a friend of mine out by playing guitar to support his group of pupils who were performing on Yamaha organs (part of the Yamaha Music School National Showcase) and we got there for the sound check at 9:30am but we weren't due back until 4:30 or something, so we killed time by going on a coffee shop crawl around Birmingham as we were both big coffee freaks .. lol ..
