Nexarius Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 We have 2003, and we're beginning to get issues with the kids all having 2007/2010 at home and being confused by the 2003 interface. I've looked at the cost of upgrading and it is substantial! What do people think, is it worth upgrading to 2010 for familiarity's sake, or should I stick with 2003 which does the job and which the teachers understand!
Bruce123 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Regarding cost, don't you have a MS agreement that allows you to install the latest version of office (at no extra cost)? Or do you have one license per PC? I only ask because I imagine that most schools have the former. In any case I would say upgrading is your best option, because you'll only have to do it eventually anyway. All new PCs/laptops typically come with a trial version of Office 2010 and many parents will have pruchased the £90- version of Office 2007/2010. Some younger kids may have even never seen 2003. There is of course a compatibility pack from MS for Office 2003 which allows it to open .docx files, but I guess you're using that already. Thanks, Bruce.
martincrow Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hi, if the older one is useful and handy then why upgrade.
pagelad Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 In a similar boat but am waiting to see what the pricing is like on this EES. With us being a small school with a a lot more computers then full time staff im hoping to be able to get a good deal!
