AceDaz Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Hi We have 13 PCs that are connected through the school network on a separate VLAN than the rest of the school and then connects to the CLEO Switch directly. So instead of accessing the Schools Internal network, they go directly out to CLEO and have a 10.x.x.x address. The PCs are for extended schools and the webcams came with each of the PCs, but the Silver Surfers group want to now video conference with them between them (i.e. they wish to connect to a 10.x.x.x address). Can you recommend any software to use? MSN Messenger would be ideal but it's blocked.
eduabncs Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 For just basic VC why not use Windows built in solution Net Meeting? Should work in your set-up as long as Cleo's routing between the VLAN's allows it. To set up NetMeeting go to Start>Run and type conf.exe to configure NetMeeting which will also put an icon on your desktop.
TechSupp Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Yes tried that myself when looking in to internal vc for the kids
K.C.Leblanc Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 X_lite might do this. CounterPath Corporation | X-Lite Features Comparison
danbuntu Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 we've been playing with bigbluebutton and it's really good. it will allow webcam conferencing with upto around 25 webcams at a time (hardware allowing). it's also got voip, screen sharing, text chat and presentation abilities
