It was a weird moment watching my screen flash several times and the intended post appear on a completely different thread.

IF ZH is after explanations, I posted on one thread disappeared to Settings, noticed the thanks and clicked on it scrolled down the new thread, replied with quote to a post and it appeared on the first thread

you know there are some people who will take legal action against the previous owner for leaving items which wern't on the inventory for the property?

There are some, but when I moved house I got so fed up with the constant too-ing and fro-ing with the vendors, I ended up telling them to take what they were going to take and leave what they were going to leave, otherwise we'd never have exchanged contracts.

I regretted it slightly afterwards: We had to dispose of a huge load of rubbish including an enormous earthenware planter that was broken, but still full of compost and dead plants. We moved in to no lighting fixtures in the dining room, no shower rail and no curtain rails; they even took the flap off the back of the letterbox! At least we managed to move in to what is a very nice house.

I'd left our shower curtain at the last house, sure the purchasers would want to change it, but at least they could have a shower on moving day which was more than we could.

To be fair to the previous owners, he did say to me they have a couple of canoes they could leave, and i just casually said yes, thinking like blow up things or tiny little canoes, i didnt realise he meant great big canoes. so partially my fault for not inspecting them on viewing.

but alls well that ends well :)

hehe. I bought my flat with the contents left in situ as I knocked them down quite a bit. Cost me £65 for rubbish disposal of bulky items and I sold the good stuff so that helped with the disposal costs. I needed to get in in a hurry otherwise I might have used freecycle but most of the stuff did smell!
