Problems inatalling ubuntu proliant ml330 g2

Hi people

 

i have a Compaq Proliant ML330 G2 (pentium 3). It has the SCSi on the features card along with the network and monitor. (standard thing for these, i believe)

 

I am trying to install ubuntu server on this box and ubuntu does not detect the hdd's.

 

i have tried all distros from 6.04 up to 10.04.

 

anyone any ideas where to get ubuntu drivers for this box and how to install them to enable ubuntu to pick up hdd and carry on with installation?

 

Also has anyone got ubuntu running on one of these?

HP certify their server hardware for Red Hat Server, but suggest that Caldera and Suse may also work.. Have you tried a different Linux - perhaps Fedora as it's based on Red Hat?

It installed and ran without problems on my ML350 g5

^^The 350 G5 is a very different beast, the ML330 G2 is pretty old skool. I can't find details of the RAID card used, you'll need to search for exactly what you have (Adaptec, LSI, whatever is in there) and see if a Linux driver is available. That'll then need adding in to pick up the drives.

IIRC, Centos is distro which is based on red hat. Maybe worth a try?

it has an adaptec 7899 scsi board (off the top of my head)
