Upgrading xbox hard drive

Do we have any xbox hard drive upgraders on here? I'm looking to replace the 20Gb one in my 360, but was wondering what will be suitable.

 

Most of the online guides talk about a 120Gb drive, but I think that's because that was the largest drive which was available at the time of writing.

 

I can get a WD 250Gb drive for £26 at the minute, but if it will take anything larger would rather put in the biggest I can.

not 100% strictly true its not impossible to use a 3rd party drive in the enclosure but requires quite a lot of messing around by the looks of it and you run the risk of getting that machine blackilsted from live

I have heard of people using 3rd party but it is a banable offence so I wouldnt do it and its easy to detect.

I have a 2TB in my xbox slim and havent been banned yet...

 

My old xbox is still going with a 500GB hdd and it was done 3 years ago (My ex has it now), however my friend who changed his HDD got banned within a few days. Its luck of the draw I think on the ban, so do so at your own risk.

Cheers guys, food for thought. I though MS had relaxed the rules on connected storage devices.

Not reallly. They are still blocking datel's memory units as far as I know, even though the court case agreed with Datel that Microsoft are trying to block all 3rd party hardware.

 

I also saw another mention on Microsoft suing Datel over a controller they sell.

 

Things like this make me glad I rarely connect my 360 to the internet.

you can changed the slims hard drives. it just invaulidats the warranty (my spelling had it)

hay its MS, Take that broom stick dunk it in some Castrol GTX and stick it where the sun don't shine.. only then you can make MS happy.. as you enjoy ther over priced toys.
