Windows XP SP3 Logon Box

Hello everybody

Have any of you worked a solution to the problem where if a bad username or password warning message is displayed on the Windows XP SP3 logon screen (like this one) and a remote shutdown is sent (regardless of tech -> lanview, beyond exec etc), the workstation does not shut down gracefully until the message popup is cleared?

This is causing me a problem with my scheduled shutdown tasks.

E.g. If I shut down a lab at 5pm through a scheduled task and there are a couple of machines with a bad / username password message displayed, the task stalls on these machines until the students come in for their lesson, which could be 9am the following day, they hit the OK button and then the workstation finishes the shut down, right when they want to actually use the computer.

Any thoughts?

To 'force' a reboot, yes!

I've not seen this message before, but I'm speculating that there may be a problem with the Computer Objects in AD. I would delete the Computer Object(s) in question, manually disconnect from the domain to a workgroup, reboot, then re-join the domain.
