Securus Question

Hi Folks

 

We curently use Securus within the school to, in my mind, good effect. The cost of it is somewhere in the region of 2-3k per annum.

 

I have been asked by my line manager (I think I already know the answer to this one), if there is a cheaper alternative to Securus and if so, has anyone had experience of it.

 

Can anyone help?

Depends which parts are of most use to you

Yeah, we use it almost totally for bullying/swearing/proxy type information. The staff are pretty sure it is a big deterrent to students.

To be honest i dont think there is much else really. Does the current setup work ok? You will only pay for support and upgrades so if you stop paying you can still use the product but not upgrade the software. The only problem is if it breaks....

I personally think the current setup works very well. For 3k per year we are ticking a lot of the safeguarding boxes, IMO money well spent.

 

Its just the IT strategy group has asked the question regarding cost savings. I dont remember seeing any other solution to Securus anywhere.

The only other one i can think of its the one by Sentential software (i think thats the name) its just actually securus with another badge on.

I think its pretty much the case as I suspected. As all the pc's have the Securus client & it's working as expected, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

And aprently...

AB Tutor can monitor keywords and snapshot screens. Can also log all websites visited and all keyboard activity, etc.

There is another one arround as well but I can't remember what the hell it was called, but it was based off Policy Central (which I think securus is based off as well?)

 

The other thing which may/maynot be exactly the same is that Impero seemed to have this built in to an extent too on the recent web demo I had?

We don't use it but Impero offers the securus keyword logging as well as a lot more.

As Damien mentioned, AB Tutor v6 will do keyword monitoring with screendumps (or video recording) which you set as a policy. A second policy can monitor activity on the computer including applications used, websites visited, logons, and keystrokes. Works brilliantly for us, and cheap as chips too.
