Depends on the length of time they are there. Short term get a temp account (supply1, supply2..etc) and they have email accounts attached to them already. Longer term get their own accounts and email to go with.

We will (and have) if they are going to be with the school for few weeks or more and it’s asked for. Our only concern is we never seem to be told that X person has left. So in theory, someone could have access to an "Official" school email account but not under its employment. Unfortunately the LGFL email system we use does not have a "expire" like AD can be set for.

I had to think about the supply1/2 but can see the benefits as I wouldn't need to keep modifying groups. I can assign a generic account supplyY5 for example, which would be in all the relevant groups and then just change the password when the supply teacher changes. Thanks for the idea.

They get an email account here, no problems with that - as they have signed an AUP before they even use the computer (and SIMS to do electronic registration!)

Long term supply get an e-mail address here for maternity cover etc. They wouldn't be able to operate effectively without it as e-mail is the main communication channel for staff.

All new network accounts automatically get an email account. It also gets disabled when their network account is disabled - so the only potential problem would lie with HR of admin staff not letting us know when they go.

Same here - we change the passwords to the generic supply accounts on a fortnightly basis and inform the Cover Supervisor, who dishes them out to the supply teachers, as I find the supply teachers are not very careful on the security front.
