SimpleSi Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I had a new HP B&W laser delivered and setup it on server and modified the last script I used to install a printer and allocated to all computers (I use WPKG that just runs scripts from all users/startup) Did it work - did it heck. I've spent all afternoon getting nowhere (I could have gone around all the computers in the school and installed it manually instead!) I'm beginning to doubt that the previous scripts actually worked!!!!! Guru status declined with my users Si
3s-gtech Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 GPP time? I ditched scripts (which did work nicely on XP, but were crashing Windows 7 logins) for Group Policy Preferences, and been really impressed. Or - are you installing this printer as a local printer on every machine?
SimpleSi Posted January 8, 2011 Author Posted January 8, 2011 are you installing this printer as a local printer on every machine? yes - my machines are generally XP home and not operating as domain clients. I'm begining to think its the dialog box that pops up asking if you really want to install the printer that causes the proble mwith WPKG - what I can't understand is why it worked for the past 2 years Si
