What is in store for the first week back?

Battle with Gola Sorted i work in a 17 strong team ... I have resorted to putting a DO NOT DISTURB sign over my desk .......... And started my no caffine week so touchy ... Cant bear last minute wining teachers !!! Apart from that Happy New Year Guys and Girls !!!

 

Oh don't get me started either on GOLA

Dropping daughter at station on her way back to uni, then trying to work out a) where work is, and b) if I'll ever be able to print again. Don't ask...

Day 1 so far:

 

Office broken into over holiday, office trashed.

Phone system faulty, most key extensions down (reception, student absence, staff cover ect)

PAT testers been in over the holiday, 3 blown projectors, a few computer suites had the breakers tripped, Switch's left unplugged. lots of running around.

 

How long till the next holiday?

So far for me its been scrabbling kit together for training I hadn't been informed was happening, while explaining laptops are a finite resource.

 

While trying to FOG working in Latvia, and also trying to work out where the rest of my team is....

What happened to yours lol? It's been generally OK for us but one of the upgrades borked and meant it got confused what version was installed so couldn't update via MSI as usual.

Just generally the software install was painful, for us the version of flash needing to be downgraded was the killer!

It didnt like the temp directory for me even tho everything else was fine, phoned gola they said they have never heard of the error code it was outputting .... Ended up scripting a full uninstall and then a reinstall of the ADM was not impressed at all then the tech support guy tried telling me how to explore the c drive, i kindly reminded him i work in technical support....

Came back to EMails about our Learning Gateway dying over the Christmas holidays. And the normal SIMS stuff, along with over-excited (and noisy) Sixth Form in our library and praying my car will get me to and from work as I have just repaired it. Silly thing has cost me an arm and a leg over the last few weeks!

I don't know the detail, as I am no longer a tech support bod, but our tech support bod had real problems, and yes at the time it was because it didn't work with the latest version of Flash... might want to have a play with it if you have 5 mins!
