Gas & Electricity Suppliers

I am viewing a 1 bedroom flat tomorrow in a fairly good location and I am just getting things ready as I am more than likely to move into it. This is the first place on my own but need to know who is the best supplier for Gas & Electricity.

 

Let me know who you use.

Ebico have been fantastic for me...excellent pricing (and its the same if you are on paper bill or pre payment meter)...never had an issue with them. They are a subsidiary of Scottish Electric I believe.

I've been with British Gas for ages (dual fuel and an internet tariff). For me the prices are good but I use very little gas (and not that much electricity; heating and hot water are provided as part of my service charge) It's easy to submit meter readings online and they also send readers round in the evening and at weekends - much more sensible than during the working day when no-one's at home!

I know alot of people whom use these: https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/ - My mother has used them before in the past and has had no issues with them not sure who we are with now though since moving house.

I use Atlantic. They kindly give you one months bill back every 13th month.

 

Another Atlanic user here. The effective free month is a nice perk, mine comes in December! I did look a few months ago and even with this back, more suppliers are starting to get very close on pricing.

British Gas for both. As a normally very light user, the lack of standing charge made them very competitive. Probably time I had a look around again though.

just checked my own costs and saved Annual savings: £191.54

by changing plan with same supplier ( Npower) wish i had looked earlier now

Ebico are good, in that they don't discriminate between credit and prepay meters...

 

However, sometimes other providers can beat them. Shop around. Our current cottage is with NPower for Gas and Electric. Currently working on a monthly bill for power of about £200, and gas the same...the joys of an 18thC cottage with solid walls and single glazing. That's only attempting to heat to 16 degrees too..it rarely gets to 14, never mind 16 in cold weather!

NPower sign online 20 is the cheapest duel fuel atm. I just switched (from another NPower tarrif). As long as you do paper billing, manage account online, and stay with them until Jan 1 2012.

I use Eon for both Electricity and Gas, went to them because they were the cheapest for us on uSwitch at the time. Only problem I ever had with them was when they tried to charge me £400 a month because they hadn't been able to check the meters, I rang them up and gave them the figures and they said "Will £70 a month be ok" ....true bloody right it was...nearly had a heart attack when I opened the letter!

Cheers for all the replies, I ended up not getting that flat as it was too shabby, needed to much doing to it, currently trying to get funds for a property I have seen to buy.

We had a place like that (3 bed semi), a few moves back. Went for a viewing - writing on the walls, doorways missing, bodged plasterboard repairs etc..looked a RIGHT tip. Bathroom had a wee-soaked carpet etc. Put the other 3 couples off it mind. We thought "hell with it" and went for it.

 

Landlord had the place fixed up and the bathroom carpet ripped out, a nice laminate floor put in there and a power shower, as he was so pleased we'd taken it on and weren't DSS, as he put it. Was a nice place! Wish we'd never moved, TBQH. Now on house/cottage/flat #4, and the next move will hopefully be a buy job. If we can get a mortgage. Properties by me are quite cheap!
