My way of looking at this is, that even if it doesn't work out the way I hope then I'm young enough to go wherever I want.

I know some folk that went there to do basic sales stuff, then grew into the Genius role and they love it. I know a few serious Apple engineers who made the move when a local retail store came into their area and they had a choice ... get the business whilst at the store or go out of business.

 

Apple are a cult and if you love the ideas and enthusiasm then go for it. Even if you do it for a year or so then it will be a good chance to take on a few different roles. As well as doing Genius stuff you can also be doing 1-to-1 tutorials, get expertise in particular apps and doing sales at the same time. All skills which can help in the future even if you don't stick to the Mac only world.
