hp officejet pro 8000 - are they any good

Seriously though we have had it for over year and have had no issues with it.

We have 2 and they are useless for network printing.

 

Probably fine for direct use.

Well my last one has just failed as well (very poor black output - changed printhead - it got worse - suspect some airlock somewhere)

 

And its the main printer in a small school so they are down to one other for the whole school until I get back next week

 

Undoubtably the worst printer I've ever bought

 

Even my cheap and cheerful HP2600 lasers (a budget printer if there ever was one) have lasted better than these

Just had 1 fail, luckily is within warranty (by 1 week) it's stopped feeding paper, seems like a common fault

Not got the 8000 here, but we do have an OfficeJet Pro 8500, which is basically the 8000 with scanner/fax on it.

 

So far, we've had no real issues with it. Cheap to run and fast at printing. On the network and works fine. We don't hammer it though. ie. in the 9 months we've had it, its done 120 pages (although it will now get more use, as there's a new HOD in that area).

 

It is definitely not a photo printer though, so don't expect super quality prints.

 

We also have a couple of the K5400s, which would be the 8000 series' predecessor, and they've been pretty much flawless!

I disagree with the above, we have in excess of 11 of these printers and they are immense! they have saved us a fortune. We have had a issue with one that we bought and the drivers as well (HP Recommended on a network environment to use HP DeskJet 940 drivers) but in terms of the ink usage our printers use nothing as default they are set to be high quality. All you need is to set the default options on the server to draft and hey presto it works perfectly. Very reliable pieces of kit an by far are an improvement of the brother LaserJet’s we had before.

 

The benefit they have now are you pay only £33 with £50 cashback when you buy a full set of cartridges rufly £40 for XL which prints aprox 2200 pages
