REALLY Slow startup

The machines in all IT rooms are starting up really slowly, it is taking 10/15 mins to get to the press ctrl + Alt + Delete screen, it is hanging on 'Applying Deployed Printer Connections Policy'

 

We are using Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7.

 

Any Ideas anyone?

Is this a new thing? I have an IT suite of Win 7 machines and they take an age to log on, sticking on the 'applying printers policy' bit. We have tried everything we can think of but with no luck.

However, it doesnt take 10/15 mins so I wonder if one of your printer policies has gone wrong or even one of the printers has lost its grip on the network?

You wouldnt happen to use the HP website drivers?

They have a bug that means you add 1-2 minutes per logon per printer connection using the HP drivers.

Its a problem thats been going on for a while, but only just found out what the real problem is.

We are using windows drivers not the HP drivers

you havnt got a script running thats got a pause in it have you as that waits for input for about 15 mins iirc

If its the HP problem you should have some event log entries. If it seems to affect only those with HP printers then we know its the driver. To get working drivers we used the windows software catalogue (google it) and manually installed those on the server.

I am correct that the slow pc's have an hp printer yes?

The winlogon notification subscriber took 408 second(s) to handle the notification event (CreateSession).

 

Some of ours are also hanging at the Printer Deployment stage. Are you maybe getting errors like this in the application log?

We are getting these, it totals to around 7min of waiting. Someone has suggested disabling IPV6.. will try it now.

 

EDIT: IPV6 diasbled and its still hanging on "'Applying Deployed Printer Connections Policy".......

This time it took 414 sec...

 

Any ideas anyone? Samsung printer drivers here.

we have solved it. we have gpo for each classroom and these must have been corrupt or something we deleted them and re-created and now startup is about 50secs, and logon is about 50secs-1min. so very happy now
