itgeek Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Hi how do you manage your software licensing. I would like a free solution if possible? Thanks
glennda Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Free licences this or we tend to either purchase products with a site license. or software like Sibelius which is installed everywhere but only 50 copies can be run at once etc.
oxide54 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 App-v lets you specify licenses for products , and only allows the number you are licensed for to be run concurrently (in theory anyway!) and it gets round traditional license agreements that don't allow concurrent usage and count installations, because App-V applications are not installed. allow some software different license agreements. its all in the wording
pete Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Site licenses or concurrent use is the easiest to manage. For things with a limited amount of licenses, we keep a list of how many licences we have and where they are installed in a wiki with the rest of the IT docs. Anything with a limited amount of licenses also doesn't go on default images.
JohnCena83 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Some company provide free software licensing for the duration of free trial.
KK20 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Same as pete. I also run winaudit every few months (silent script on logon). then import the data into SQL just in case anyone comes a knockin'
