Intel WOL - Network Cards

Afternoon,

 

We've recently been seeing an issue where newly build machines are not WOL'ing. I thought it was Impero but our techie has just found the answer. The latest Intel driver we use for our latest WDS image does not have the WOL flag set to on.

 

As such we have around 80 machines that do not WOL.

 

Has anyone else had this issue? Short of going around setting the flag on every machine or re-capturing the whole image again, I wonder if anyone has a reg setting that I can send out over the network to set the flag to true.

 

If not - then a campus walk it is.

Download and run something like RegShot, make the change and then take a second snapshot to see what file or reg setting has been changed. You should then be able to run a startup script to update the file or registry on the network machines.

Thanks Altec - didn't work. Seems it may not be a registry setting.

we have a couple of intel nics that point to

look for value like EnablePME and wakeOn

WOL can be quite complex...it has te be enabled in the BIOS, in the nic driver and your infrastructure (switching) must support it (and be configured)
