What really gets me is how governments and certain officials are angry with Wikileaks and are claiming this was irresponsible on their part.

 

Do you think there would be this witch hunt if the leaks had been provided by the BBC, CNN or even Fox news? (Fox news would never report something like this on their own but anyway...)

 

Governments are scared because they have no control over the internet. They can censor traditional media outlets all day long but they cannot censor the internet. They are terrified that they cannot control the distribution of information the way they used to. The balance of power may be starting the shift.

In some cases yes, but in Italy I understand Silvio Berlusconi owns 95% of the media [ and actively stops anti government stuff from being broadcast ] -then of course we have our own beloved Rupert Murdoch and his empire of yes men govenment ministers and bankers. In order for the shift to continue these scumbags need to be locked up or put on an island with a large man called Bubba who will say ' your my little puppy now... '

The power just got shifted. This is why it's so significant.

There info is already released in an encrypted format - one tweet with the key and that information is sitting on the C: of thousands of computers all over the world.

 

While I'm not completely happy with unfiltered information like this being released (how would I feel if it was my personal emails for example) I am delighted that knowledge is power once again and maybe our governments will start to represent the people rather than themselves. (I ain't no commie though!)

When I used to work at Amazon, they had to manually approve/check the feedback given... that's what they get for allowing people to have opinions
