Dell D630 Video / Display

Hi

 

Got a dell D630 here, install windows with VGA mode, no problems. Download and install latest driver for the graphics card ( quadro nvs 135 ) Nvidia quadro basically.

 

Screen flickers, goes black, comes back for a split second and then just vanishes completely and stays black - any suggestions ?

I used to be a Dell service engineer.. Nvidia Chipped D630's were always fail due to overheating... it's a high likelyhood the chip is damaged...If you have tried drivers an the basics that is (try external monitor to rule out LCD) if it's under warranty it may be a good idea to get it replaced..

I took it apart and tightened the screws that hold the heatsink down a bit tighter as they were lose - just need to put it back together again. I thought it may be that or RAM as had a few that would turn on, no post screen and black screen so was curious if it may be RAM or GPU. Will need to check if its still under warranty or not.
