its hardly stuff you'd use every day though is it?

 

best practices analyzers? migration assistants? they're all pretty single use - with the exception of the sharepoint and hyper-v offerings

 

Search Server Express, Sharepoint Designer and the like would have been better additions IMHO

I normally download and install the server 2003 resource tool kit onto my xp box at work and use the tools in there - The RSAT tools - is that only for windows vista / 7 or is there one for xp ??

 

Obviously the above toolkit will most likely not be applicable for windows vista / 7

 

In an XP environment so hence why using it.

Correct. Personally I found that when I used to install the adminpak and the suptools that it was much less of a hassle on. With RSAT you have many more boxes to tick and some things are a little bit hidden etc...

The Lync Server 2010 Planning Tool is in the top 10 Microsoft Server Tools? And like Domino says, most of those are pretty one-shot. That's an awful article.
