Our previous whiteboard installers loved the twist and tape method for all connections, USB, Audio leads and even power leads for speakers! Hence a majority of our speakers have aweful buzzing on the audio that I just don't have time to go round and sort out properly.

Sadly I have seen worse. You would not want to do that due to NEXT (near end cross talk) and corrosion etc of wires. Have seen something very simmilar but with about 10cm of wires exposed and untwisted on each cable all helpfully submerged in water. That link was not very reliable even at 100mbits.

Or the company who came in to our school to "test the network" as part of our becoming an academy - they cable tested the points, but plugged all the cables back into the switches any old way - which really upset our VLANs - monkeys!
