Soulfish Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 We're 99.99% sure that we're going to move our internet connection away from our county council after doing a cost/benefit analysis of being connected to the county network/NGN. Currently Opal are working out about 10% cheaper than we pay for our NGN connection. Instead of having a 30mbit connection that we can barely use since all bandwidth is shared with all schools, no SLA and no backup we'd have a guaranteed speeds, a 99.99% SLA and a backup ADSL connection with auto-failover of all IPs and services. I was just wondering if anyone had used Opal for their leased lines (or even business ADSL!) and how they found the service?
NikChillin Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 This is something we will be looking into as well over the next few months. We are also interested in the other filtering options available/ or reccommendations.
MatthewL Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I've got a feeling that is who we moved over to at my last place I worked at and also one of the Surgeries I deal with now uses them, found them to be expensive for telephone side of things, never used for Internet services.
Haptic Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 We do offer this and if anyone else is interested please give us a shout. Chris

john Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I am an Opal customer through buyouts of other firms, they are part of TalkTalk and I had to use support recently over a Packet Loss issue and was rather worried about how well it would go and I shouldn't have worried very helpful indian call centre, problems solve very quickly and helpful. That was on ADSL though not leased line but if the ADSL is supported the same as Leased Lines then I was very pleased. Timbo343 on here also uses Opal for ADSL lines. 1
Soulfish Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 Cheers for the answers everyone . Based on all of the above I think we're probably going to be going with Opal for our leased line - unless someone is able to better their offer!
FN-GM Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 i would have a word with ZEN internet. They tend to be more than others but the service is brill.
Soulfish Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 i would have a word with ZEN internet. They tend to be more than others but the service is brill. We've already had quotes back from Zen, and while the price wasn't bad it's still about 40% more than Opal
FN-GM Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Ah well, We used ZEN at the moment. We have a direct fibre connection with them. The offices are only over the road. The speed and connection is really good. We are very happy with them.
