steveg Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 We're currently looking at moving to Moodle for our primary School VLE. Does anyone have this running in a primary School, and wouldn't mind me having a look at it? Thanks Steve
SimpleSi Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 vle.middleforth.lancs.sch.uk PM if you'd like a temp logon to look inside regards Simon PS it doesn't run in our school - its hosted by our ISP so I can't let you look in the engine room 2
speckytecky Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 That looks fantastic SimpleSi - congratulations.
witch Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 We are a middle school - half junior, half senior: Lockyers Middle Cant take any credit for it - the ICT teacher does it all! pm if you would like a temp log on We do run ours in-house if you want any info
SimpleSi Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Can't take all the credit - some Moodle person in CLEO does the themes - I knicked the class buttons from somewhere and I downloaded and re-uploaded the resources from CLEO's Sunny Saffari project and set up users etc. The ICT drives the use of it (Which is currently stalled after last years initial impetus) and to answer the PM - I have used Moodle forums in my own ICT Classes and have seen about 3 strong ICT teachers use them (Out of 15 schools) - as I've said before - normal primary teachers usually find Moodle bewildering - they can set up courses once shown how to but never do it again after initial training. regards Simon
witch Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 As a middle school, we have a dedicated IT teacher who does everything on the VLE - all his lessons, homework, the lot. Slowly slowly other teachers are putting stuff up. But in my other school, a junior, we dont even really have teachers who can cope with the basic IT and the years 5 and 6 certainly arent learning anything like the level of competence with IT that the children at the middle school have
GrumbleDook Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 If you also go onto twitter and search using the hashtag #moodle you will find quite a number of folk using Moodle too.
steveg Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Thanks for the examples, both look really good, and looks like we can do everything we want in moodle. Now just got to decide if the benefits of using it outweigh the hassle of moving from a Learning Platform we've had for the last 3 years! Steve
tdkmillsy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 I was also looking for good examples, thanks for the posts. Ian
