K.C.Leblanc Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) I've been advised to setup Zone transfer on our DNS servers, and I'm really struggling to understand why. They're all Server 2003 server on the same domain and all DCs. Since they're already working in Active Directory integrated mode there's already a mechanism for DNS records to replicate between the servers. Or am I missing something? sparkeh Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) Who advised you to do this and did they say why? Do you have different zones in your domain? Edited November 3, 2010 by sparkeh 1

Nope, you have everything you need already. Zone transfers are only useful when there are replication partners or zones who aren't AD-integrated. 1
