[mdt] MDT2010 Lenovo G550 Laptop Wireless

Hi all, Having a problem getting MDT2010 to find the wireless driver for the Lenovo G550 Laptop. Iv downloaded every driver from the Lenovo site, extracted and included them in the out of box drivers. Iv also got a small add on program that searches the drivers after installation to try and find some it may have missed and it still does not work. I wonder if anyone has got any ideas? or has experienced the same problem.

1) What particular 'type' is this Lenovo? When you go to the download site of Lenovo you can pick the model as a G550 but then there is another drop down box asking for the sub-type?

2) Have you tried manually installing the driver on the laptop without doing the deploy? Did it work and if so which driver did you use?

3) If you still can't get it working, go to Device Manager and view the properties of the card. Under the Advanced tab go to Hardware ID's and see what it says under DEV_????&VEN_???? Post the numbers here so's I can have a nosey around.

I didnt see the section on the lenovo site to choose the different type ill have a look.the model is 2958.. yeah iv got the driver to work manually by installing the broadcom wireless driver b57xp32.sys it just wont find it on the deploy for some reason. The dev and ven id's are ven_14e4 and dev_1713.

I currently have this driver within my MDT share, try unzipping it and adding it into your database and trying again. I checked within the .inf file and it does mention the DEV and VEN ID's that you talked about.

cheers dude, just noticed the one underneath that was missing and its acpi wonder if that had something to do with it, iv added those drivers into it aswell.

Here are a few more things for you to try. The first is an alternative driver for the broadcom wireless. The second is an ACPI driver (ATK0100) which seems to crop up on quite a few laptops and the third "machine" is one I found which contains some weird system board stuff. I used this one to fix an issue with an Acer 7720 deploy but it handles various makes.
