SharePoint workflows & question

I want to be able to set up a system with sharepoint that, based on a metadata selection (ie a tag to say 'copy to records') will copy a document to another document library. Ideas on how to achieve this?

 

Would the be done via an unattended workflow?

Do you want it to copy just once when the document is uploaded, at a set time, or following some other criteria than just the tag?

The project is to build an extranet hosted externally, but have a backup intranet that is nothing more than a store of documents if internet is not available, which for this situation is both frequent and important that documents can be accessed at all times. The main store and site will be the extranet, but am thinking of alternatives, hense the copy once uploaded.

If you have SharePoint designer 2010 you can create a workflow that does exactly this job using a simple GUI.

Can you import workflows in Sharepoint Standard 2010? I thought you needed Enterprise for that facility?
