Flash/Shockwave updates

We have some software titles that use flash and shockwave for animation etc.

 

When I update flash/shockwave so that staff and students can view the lastest internet media content these titles stop working because I suppose they are programed to use older versions.

 

Has anyone had this same problem and how did you fix it.

if possible we virtualize apps with VMware thinapp so we include the older flash version inside the application package.
