Sam_Brown Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Issue seems to be that when you do an image search that about two thirds of the images are "red cross'd" and blank but when you click them the image shows up as if you would expect it to do had the thumbnail been present. A few of our admin staff are complaining about not being able to find images for presentations \ newsletters and I was wondering if anyone else had any issues. Regards, Sam
tom_newton Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Hrm. GIS serves images as in-page base64 these days IIRC - so it must be some sort of in-page mangle? Unlikely to be a straight block on a domain or url. Be interested to see the page source of a pair of identical GIS requests, one proxied, one not.
GrumbleDook Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 If they are looking for images for presentations / newsletters I would recommend they use Flickr: Creative Commons as a standard. You will find copyright materials coming up in Google searches and they shouldn't be used, especially for newsletter which will be seen by the outside world. I've only seen one ticket for this so far (a different school to you) so can you make sure you raise it as a ticket please?
robk Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 There have been mentions of this on the Derbyshire NMs mailing list, and I have certainly seen it for a day or two.
GrumbleDook Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 @robk could you ask folk to make sure they have logged tickets then ... I'll give a call in to the helpdesk to let them know stuff is coming in.
Sam_Brown Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Just for the record I've contacted EMBC and they are looking into it. Ticket was recently updated to show it was the same as a number of other requests... so here's hoping they'll be getting this sorted soon.
GrumbleDook Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Thanks mate ... and if I could prod folks in other EMBC LAs to put calls in if they have the problem too. 1
camel Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I have just logged call with EMBC (Leics), they're still looking into it. They mentioned changes in their proxy servers.
robk Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I understand Derbyshire now have several calls logged.
Sam_Brown Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Just got a call from Andrew @ EMBC to let me know the issue has been resolved. Given it a quick test and initial signs show that everything is working as should be
GrumbleDook Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Thanks folks ... as always, if you report it, then people know there is a fault!
apoth0r Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Seems to be working from here too, also Northampton
Edu-IT Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I've noticed this too I just assumed the images weren't suitable. Didn't realise it was a problem! Thanks all.
