Related links: Configuration Manager 2007 R3 is here Introducing SCCM 2007 R3 The second link above is well worth a look at as it runs through the new features and includes various screenshots. We use SCCM R2 here - and I'm looking forward to delta updates and certainly curious about the power manage features given some recent conversation we've had at my school. Gatt Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Configured the power management options in SCCM R3 but it doesn't seem to have been applied to any workstations yet! Now need to figure out how to get SCCM to take over the OS Deployment from MDT!

Having a few initial problems with this myself but not putting much time into this yet.

jc1875 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Its a bit of a waiting game with the power managment reports. Make sure it's enabled in the client agents (site settings -> client agents -> power management client agent) Change the hardware inventory to a day (mine was at 7 days) to get some information collected - change back later if its reporting too much. check the client agent version on your site reports (sms site - client information -> count sms client versions) Most of mine have updated from 4.00.6487.200 (SP2 with R2) to 4.00.6487.2153 (SP2 with R3)

I've just migrated 300+ PCs from xp to win7 using config manager. nice being able to sit back and watch it go One thing to watch out on with the power management reports (I'd logged this during the RC but it was too late to be changed). When/if you change the paramaters on the reports, mage sure that any value (in particular CO2) that is to more than 3 decimal places isn't saved as 0.00 ie CO2 is given as 0.015. I changed the KW on the report from 0.09 to 0.07 but didn't notice that the CO2 value field was also only 2 decimal places. It displayed correctly (well - to two decimal places it was correct!) as 0.00 and when the parameters are saved, it saved as 0 so all the reports have 0 values. Tricks Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) For the most part R3 testing has gone well but I'm left with two big issues - hoping I've missed something obvious! 1. Following the auto-creation of the configMgr upgrade package I've advertised/deployed it. According to the client PC logs "Configuration Manager Client -- Configuration completed successfully." however when I view the machine in the SCCM console it still shows the client version as 4.00.6487.2000. Even has that version on my own PC that I manually installed the R3 client on. I don't do a software inventory on the pcs, I can't imagine that's required to update the detected configmgr version?! ..... on a side-note, are we able to update the actual configmgr msi so this upgrade .MSP isn't required indefinitely for new PCs? 2. After a lot of jumping through hoops to get the reporting working I'm finding if I run a report that contains a graph, as many of the useful power-related ones do, I get the error "The Dundas Chart for Reporting Services report item is unavailable.". I've done a lot of search on this error and not had any luck, anyone else run into it? Edited November 2, 2010 by Tricks

Fixed by a mass 'Discovery Data Collection Cycle' as it turned out. Still got that Dundas Chart problem though.

Dundas Component for SCCM R3 Power reports ... you will find it on the MS System Centre forum "System Center Configuration Manager TechCenter > System Center Configuration Manager Forums > Configuration Manager Reporting" I have not upgraded from SQL 2005 to 2008, so the KB article mentioned 'out there in Google-Land' isn't relevant. (I suspect it was fixed by SP2 anyway) I'll repost here to show where I'm at with the problem: Hi, I'm another with the same problem. This is SCCM 2007 R3 on a 64bit Server 2008 Enterprise R2 server with SQL 2008 Ent R2 installed on the D Drive. It's installed and I'm just downloading the R3 install ISO, I'm applying the hotfix as I type this. What are the key things to remember when configuring/installing SCCM.
