OneWaySWB Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Hello, We have pretty finished our migration from Novell to AD but one thing we still need is a replacement for Zenworks Application deployment. We used zen snapshot to create a NAL app that we could push out to workstations. When the user clicked on the Nal app the application would install and then launch. This saved our hides a quite a few times with last minute application requests (after all the summer upgrades were done). So far MS v-app seems the closest thing that I see to be able to do this in a Windows AD environment. Anyone have a product that they use that they could suggest? Thanks, Steve
BIST Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Vworkspace, citrix xenapp, ms v-app are a few to mention Shaun dibble
gjdb Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Does any of the apps you guys mention have an application launcher like the NAL?
localzuk Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 How about using MSI installers and group policy? So instead of deploying them, publishing them so that the user can choose to install them from Add/Remove software?
TronXP Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 We missed our application launcher too, in the end we went with this: Xia Links. Not quite as good as NAL launcher but does what we wanted. It is literally just a links page though, so you can but links to programs, websites and folders.
box_l Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 We use xialiks too in all of our 65 schools. I also have started using cameyo for those troublesome apps that dont like running from the network. BoX
