SLR Camera advice or a noob?

How much do you want to spend?

 

Do you think its a passing fad or something your willing to spend time and money on over time?

My advice? Steer clear from fixed lens cameras. They may be easy to start out on but you end up stuck with a camera you've outgrown in a few months! I've been stuck on a fixed lens camera for a couple of years and it has frustrated me no end.

 

Lithium batteries are always good, just make sure you have spares.

 

The question here, what is your budget?

2.) Something I'd spend time on. I'm planning on doing an evening Photography course at my local college.

 

 

Budget would be (at the moment) no more then £350 max...

Agree on the avoid fixed lense cameras. You will reach it's limits very quickly and then have to replace the entire camera rather than just a lense.

 

For £350 you can get a Canon EOS1000D with Lense.

 

Nice entry level camera if that's all you have to spend. If you can spend a bit more it would be well worth looking at the 450D.I know Jessops do 0% over 12 months.

I've recently started getting into Photography myself.

 

I bought a Panasonic Lumix G1. I cannot fault it one bit. A friend who has been teaching me has claimed it's a super-good camera and he has hundreds of pounds worth of kit.

 

It was £320 from Jessops. It has everything you need, it's also classed as a Mini-SLR so it's compact and really easy to carry everywhere! It also has a super cool flippable screen which is so useful.

 

I'd say it's worth checking out.

Or, if your REALLY fancy, the Lumix G2 with a touch screen focus.

i was also recommended the lumix, but opted for the 450d.... i love my 450d .... bloody expensive hobby tho!

Id Say Nikon 3100 with lens as people choice

 

Pentax K-X with 18-55mm Lens comes in quite close 2nd

 

Canon 1000D a good level of camera with lens for your money but personally most people say the 500D

 

 

 

Pentax has the offerings of the good standard plus its on the money, not too expensive as a rule most ppl will go with NIKON/CANON but again its all going to be personal opinion
