Mandatory Profiles and Macros

I want to change over to mandatory profiles to remove some of the weird little profile problems that we get, and reduces the amount of space that they take up; however the kids need to be able to create macros and macro buttons in word.

 

Now thanks to the ... unique... way that word stores the normal.dot their macro buttons and any macros in normal.dot will be deleted when they logoff. Does anyone have any idea how to overcome this problem?

It may be overkill, but the FlexProfile kit will let you create a hybrid profile which is basically mandatory, but with the bits you want to keep.

what about if you redirect the apps if i rember thats where the word stores it normal.dot if that is redirected problem solved. i am right in thinking it is saved here Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates so if Application Data is redirected so will templates folder.

and even if your profiles are man it will still save this data
